Matthew is a 30 something follower of Jesus. He loves his wife, his neighbors, and his city. He lives in eastern Alexandria where he is neighbor, friend, missionary, pastor, social activist, community organizer, and hopeful social entrepreneur.
As the Executive Director and co-founder of Restore Alexandria, a small faith based community development nonprofit, he empowers his neighbors and strengthens different communities and neighborhoods around the City of Alexandria.
As the Small Groups and A18 Director at National Community Church – Potomac Yard, he facilitates and stewards his faith community’s inward community life and discipleship and our outward mission and service efforts.
He also has the opportunity to be a pastor to the city, seek peace and justice for those around him, and a catalyst for organic discipleship moments and new faith communities.
When he has some free time you might find his head in a book, in the kitchen, or out with his wife exploring our city. He also keep himself busy by cheering on his favorite soccer teams, listening to music, and sipping on some great peach ice tea.
Before he found himself in Alexandria he spent a year as the Campus Pastor Protégé/Church Planter in Residence at National Community Church in Washington, DC. Previously he spent four and a half years as a missionary with the Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace Missions Base (FPF) serving on the Senior Leadership Team and working with the Bible School and internship programs. Prior to joining FPF, he served with several parachurch ministers and held various volunteer leadership positions within his local church.
